TunnelHuggers combine the best of tunnel “tie-downs” into one lightweight
product to securely hold your tunnel. I use them for the tunnels in our yard and they hold the tunnel ends taut even with our 55lb (25kg) Border Collie charging through. To use, loop the TunnelHugger
around the tunnel, pull the strap to tighten then extend the two 10” (254mm)
“arms” from each side and drive a tent stake (not included) through the webbing
ring. The strap is made of 2”- (50mm) wide black high tenacity polyester seat
belt webbing that is is UV stabilized, is flexible so it easily forms the tunnel shape, and has a breaking strength of 4,000lb (1,814kg). The oversize black delrin
buckle allows webbing to be shortened or lengthened and releases with a squeeze
of the thumb and finger. Heavy duty, 1” (25mm) “caution red” nylon webbing form
the “arms” and the webbing overlaps on the ends to doubly reinforce the
tie-down loop. Hours of R&D went in to determining the extra positioning of these arms on the strap to achieve maximum support and minimum movement. Two TunnelHuggers are required for 10’ (3m) tunnels,
one on each end; larger tunnels might require a middle Hugger as well.
